Jacketed Glass Chemical Batch Reactor
2.0-liter borosilicate glass reactor with mechanical paddle stirrer, reflux condenser, and thermal jacket.
Measure the ester conversion yield and kinematic viscosity reduction of non-edible agricultural seed oil during alkaline transesterification across varying methanol-to-oil molar ratios. Explore interactive farm machinery simulation, irrigation hydraulics, and agricultural engineering telemetry.
Ready to sample with Ratio R_m = 6.0 mol/mol.
Adjust Ratio R_m, then execute agricultural trial.
Agricultural engineering telemetry and biosystems states are evaluated rigorously using 64-bit IEEE 754 precision. Residuals reflect ordinary least-squares regression across successive observations. Continuous data structures support high-fidelity agricultural and environmental modeling.
The linear yield relation applies in the sub-saturation molar ratio range (3:1 to 8:1); beyond 9:1, excess alcohol hinders glycerol separation. Evaluated on jatropha seed oil (free fatty acids < 1.0%) using 1.0% wt/wt KOH catalyst at constant reaction temperature of 60.0 °C and 60 minutes agitation time. FAME conversion yield is measured after gravitational glycerol settling and water washing.
2.0-liter borosilicate glass reactor with mechanical paddle stirrer, reflux condenser, and thermal jacket.
Maintains reaction mixture at 60.0 ± 0.5 °C to prevent methanol vaporization while accelerating kinetics.
Measures kinematic viscosity of raw oil and biodiesel product at 40.0 °C in accordance with ASTM D445.
Quantifies methyl ester content and residual glyceride fractions according to EN 14103 standard.
Enables sharp visual separation and draining of dense glycerol byproduct layer from upper FAME ester phase.
Weighs raw feedstock oil, catalyst reagents, separated glycerol, and purified biodiesel to ±0.01 g precision.
Measure the ester conversion yield and kinematic viscosity reduction of non-edible agricultural seed oil during alkaline transesterification across varying methanol-to-oil molar ratios. Standardized parameter settings: 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, 7.0, 8.0 mol/mol.
Heat 500 g of jatropha oil to 105 °C to drive off moisture; dissolve 5.0 g of anhydrous KOH into designated methanol volumes.
Prepare six distinct batches corresponding to methanol-to-oil molar ratios of 3:1, 4:1, 5:1, 6:1, 7:1, and 8:1.
Charge the pre-heated oil (60 °C) with potassium methoxide solution, seal the reflux condenser, and agitate at 600 RPM for 60 minutes.
Transfer the reaction mixture to a separatory funnel and allow gravity separation for 120 minutes; drain the dense lower glycerol layer.
Wash the upper ester phase with warm acidified distilled water (50 °C) to remove residual catalyst and soap, followed by drying at 110 °C.
Weigh purified FAME to calculate conversion yield Y = (m_FAME / m_oil) × 100% and plot Y against molar ratio R_m to determine b_m.
Points are your recorded observations. The solid regression line validates Biodiesel Transesterification Yield mathematical scaling.
