SPECIFIC TILLING ENERGY E_S—
FIELD & TEST CELL TELEMETRY

Ready to sample with Velocity Ratio λ = 2.7 ratio.

2.7 ratio
Rotavator width: 1.5 m (36 L-blades)

Adjust Velocity Ratio λ, then execute agricultural trial.

Agricultural engineering telemetry and biosystems states are evaluated rigorously using 64-bit IEEE 754 precision. Residuals reflect ordinary least-squares regression across successive observations. Continuous data structures support high-fidelity agricultural and environmental modeling.

Agricultural assumptions and boundary condition limits

Linear specific energy model applies to standard down-cut rotation within normal moisture and velocity ratio limits. Evaluated at constant rotor speed of 220 RPM and working depth of 12 cm on sandy clay loam. Forward tractor speed is varied from 1.8 to 5.4 km/h to modulate λ.

FOLLOW THE METHOD

A reason behind every step.

Determine the PTO shaft torque, rotor power consumption, and specific tilling energy of an agricultural rotavator as a function of forward velocity ratio. Standardized parameter settings: 1.5, 2.1, 2.7, 3.3, 3.9, 4.5 ratio.

01

Torquemeter Installation & Zeroing

Install the in-line strain-gauge torque sensor onto the tractor 540 RPM PTO spline shaft, zeroing the static tare calibration before attaching the rotavator drive shaft.

02

Implement Depth & Shield Adjustment

Set the rotavator side skid shoes to maintain a uniform 12.0 cm tilling depth, and adjust the rear trailing hood to standard spring pressure.

03

Rated PTO Speed Stabilization

Engage tractor PTO and adjust engine throttle to deliver exactly 540 RPM PTO speed (rotor shaft speed 220 RPM).

04

Tillage Run at Initial Speed Ratio

Engage tractor transmission in Gear B-1 (high λ = 4.5, slow forward travel) and log torque, RPM, and speed over a 40-meter run.

05

Systematic Velocity Ratio Stepping

Progressively increase tractor forward travel speed across five additional transmission gears (decreasing λ toward 1.5) while keeping PTO RPM constant.

06

Specific Energy Calculation

Calculate tilled volume rate V_dot = width × depth × v_f, average shaft power P = T·ω, specific energy E_s = P / V_dot, and evaluate the slope k_e against λ.
